31st May 1915:
Mr & Mrs Duncan, Mill of Forresterhill, Oldmeldrum, have received a letter from Captain Lyon, 1-4th Gordon Highlanders, to the effect that their son, Lance-Corporal William Duncan, has been killed at the front. Lance-Corporal Duncan, who was about 20 years of age, was with Messrs Allan Brothers, engineers, Aberdeen, for four years, and joined the 4th Gordons about a year ago, and had been at the front since February.
