Martin J. Barthelme was born on 26 December 1919 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents were Joseph Felix Barthelme and Florence Schottler. Howard C. Avril entered the US Army on 12 February 1943. He fought with the 41st Infantry, 2nd Armoured Division and felt on 30 July 1944 in France. He is interred in the Brittany American Cemetery in France. He awarded the Purple Heart. |

He fought with the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division and felt on 13 July 1944 in France. He is interred in the Normandy American Cemetery in France.
