89 Boro, L. I. Soldiers are killed in Action.
Washington, Oct. 20 - The War Department made public today the names of 2,818 soldiers killed in action in the European and Mediterranean areas. The following 89 Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island men are included:

Alfano, Pvt., Leonard J. - Mrs. Lucille Alfano, wife, Menahan St.

Leonard Joseph Alfano was born on 31 July 1912 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents were Victor and Rose Alfano. Both were emigrants from Italy. Leonard Alfano married Lucille A. Barrett on 25 June 1941 and entered the US Army on 29 September 1943. He fought with the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division and felt on 28 July 1944. He is interred in the Normandy American Cemetery in France. He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
