Edward Tweed was born in Colchester, Essex, England on 21 April 1885. His parents were Robert and Eliza Tweed, nee Fairhead. He was married to Valeria Maud Parmentier in the Church of St. Botolph in Colchester, Essex, England on 25 December 1909. The couple had following children: Doris Lilian (1915-1998), Douglas Ernest (1918-1998), and Eva May (1920-1995). He lived in Colchester all his life. His address was 24, Golden Hill in 1901, 19, King Stephen's Road in 1911 and 70, Wickham Road in 1939. He died at 70, Wickham Road in Colchester, Essex, England on 22 December 1949.

His parents were Thomas and Elizabeth Jane Tweed, nee Scarlett. His marriage to Frances E. Clarke was registered in Willesden, Middlesex, England during the fourth quarter of 1920. After the death of Frances Tweed in 1929 was he married to Ellen M. Frewer. That marriage was registered in Willesden, Middlesex, England during the fourth quarter of 1931. His death was registered in Elstree, Herfordshire, England during the first quarter of 1976.
