D. S. Troup won photography competitions in vintage publications in September 1920.

Donald Scott Troup was born in Chakrata, Bengal, India on 24 March 1907. His parents were Robert Scott Troup and Elizabeth Troup, nee Campbell. He was married to Phyllis Louise Parfitt in the Church of St. Alban in Dar es Salaam, Tanganyika, Africa on 10 September 1935. He resided with his wife at (St. Catherines) Castle Lane, Bournemouth, Hampshire, England in 1939. His occupation was described with "Administration Officer Colo?? Service, Tanganyika Territory". He, his wife and his daughters (Felicity Carol Scott Troup, Gilda Helen Elizabeth Scott Troup) were on the passenger list of the ship "Modasa", departure was in London on 03 October 1953. They landed at the port of Lindi in Tansania and planed to travel to Tanganyika.

Troup, Donald Scott, of Sandrock Cottage, Tickhill, Doncaster, died 22 June 1973. Probate Sheffield 23 October £5202.

He was interred in the Duror Burial Ground in Duror, Highland, Scotland.
