Martin Tierney who was either born in Ireland or US in the mid-1800's married Elizabeth (Elisabeth) A. Doyle, born in Canada. Martin states in several documents that he was from Boston. I know he was married in New Brunswick, Canada and proceeded to go to the state of Washington where he made his home in the Thurston County area.
He was a farmer and they had three boys (Cornelius, Michael, and William) and two girls (Florence Elizabeth and Margaret Cecelia). Florence married a Hillis from Snohomish County, Washington and Margaret married a Murphy and lived in Thurston County, Washington, USA. Other related names to this family are Dorothy Barwick, Patricia McMahon, Mary Pifer Risse, Grace Roberts Drake, and Ann Tierney (California).

Martin Tierney was born in Galway County, Irland. His year of birth is given in different ways. One time it is 1855 and another time 1857. I think we can trust the inscription on his gravestone. There it is October 15, 1855. His parents were Michael and Bridget Tierney. Martin Tierney of Boston, Massachusetts, USA, was married to Elizabeth Doyle in The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on 14 September 1880. He died at St. Peter's Hospital in Olympia, Thurston, Washington, USA on 08 November 1928. |
