Edward Thew was born in Stourbridge, Worcestershire, England in 1831 and was baptised in Old Swinford, Worcestershire, England on 20 March 1831. His parents were Edward and Diana Thew, nee Dowler. He was married to Emma Newey in the Church of St. Philip in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England on 25 December 1857. The couple resided at Cannon Street in Birmingham. He was also married to Sarah Ann Rush in the Church of St. James in Shoreditch, Middlesex, England on 22 September 1861. Edward is recorded as a bachelor but was still married to Emma Newey. He was sentenced to one year in prison for bigamy on 24 March 1862. He can be found in the 1861 census which was taken on 07 March 1861. He was a boarder of a Ball family and was stated as unmarried although he was still married to Emma. |
