He was born on 10 October 1889 and was baptised on 13 December 1889 in a Norwegian parish in Leith, Scotland. His parents were Anders and Marion Sorensen, nee Patterson. The Norwegian baptism certificate states 168, Dundas Street, Grangemouth, Stirlingshire as the family's place of residence. Albert was married to Sybil Gertrude Thomasz in Singapore in 1937. He was passenger of the "Aeneas" and travelled from England to Singapore on 29 October 1938. With him were his wife Sybil G. Sorensen and his son Ian A. Sorensen, aged 2 months. They gave 53, Princes Square, Hyde Park, London, England as their address. Albert was a Marine Engineer.
He died in Perth, Western Australia, Australia on 06 February 1943 and was interred in the Karrakatta Cemetery and Crematorium, Karrakatta, Nedlands City, Western Australia, Australia.
