Sophia Skinner was born and baptised in St. Quivox and Newton, Ayrshire, Scotland on 25 October 1825. Her parents were Thomas and Janet Skinner, nee Urquhart. She was married to Archibald Snodgrass in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland on 01 December 1859. She was a patient of the Ayr District Asylum (Mental Institution) from 13 July 1872.

Confirmation grtanted at Ayr, 18 January, to Jessie Taylor, Ochtertyre Cottage, Belmont, Ayr, her niece, Executrix nominated in Will or Deed, dated 19 November 1900, and recorded in Court Books of Commissariot of Ayr, 16 January 1906.
