Byker Miner's Death
A verdict of "Accidental death" was returned at Wallsend yesterday afternoon on Herbert Riseboro, aged 31, stoneman, of 26, Bolam-st., Byker, who was killed in Rising Sun Colliery on Monday morning. Evidence was given that a stone, weighing between two and three tons, fell upon Riseboro in No. 46 flat, and also seriously injured another miner named Dunn. When extricated Riseboro was dead. The place appeared to be quite safe before the accident, and there was plenty of timber. The cause of the accident was probably due to the tapered end of the stone slipping.
