Here lyes the Body of Mrs. Margaret Palmer, wife of Robert Palmer Esqr. one of His Majesty's Council & Surveyor General of the Lands of this Province, who departed this life Octr 19t 1765, Aged 44 Years. After laboring ten of them under the feverest Bodity Afflictions brought on by Change of Climate, and tho' She went to her Native Land receiv'd no relief but return'd & bore them with uncommon Resolution & Resignation to the last.

Col. Robert Palmer (1724 - 1790) was surveyor general of the province and tax collector for the Port of Bath. Palmer acquired the Michael Coutanche house in 1764.
