WANTED TO GO TO PRISON.
"When this man was in the cells at the police station he expressed the wish that might be sent to prison for a month, and I hope you will oblige him," said Police-Inspector Bielby, who at Loftus yesterday prosecuted John Nolan for having begged at Loftus on Wednesday. The inspector added that Nolan did not know when he last did any work. He was a regular tramp. The defendant was sent to prison for a month. (Published in the "Northern Echo" on October 24, 1925) |
