Violet Irene Pollock Lalonde was born on 22 January 1889 and was baptised in the church of St. John in Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset, England on 17 February 1889. Her parents were Emile Gustave Lalonde and Kate Margaret Caroline Lalonde, nee Norton. Her parents found an early death. The mother died on 11 February 1895 and the father on 19 December 1913. The children lived in the household of their grandmother Charlotte Norton in 1901 and in the household of their aunt Dora Norton in Bath in 1911. Irene resided with her sister Evelyn at 2, Queens Parade in Bath, Somerset, England in 1939.
