Lieutenant-Colonel the Honorable Sir Derek William George Keppel was an equerry to His Majesty the King George V.

Hon. Sir Derek William George Keppel was born on 7 April 1863.1 He was the son of William Coutts Keppel, 7th Earl of Albemarle and Sophia Mary MacNab.1 He married Hon. Bridget Louisa Harbord, daughter of Charles Harbord, 5th Baron Suffield and Cecilia Annetta Baring, on 20 June 1898.1 He died on 26 April 1944 at age 81.
He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, EnglandG. He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Prince of Wale's Own Civil Service Rifles. He held the office of Equerry-in-Waiting to HRH The Duke of York between 1893 and 1901. He was awarded the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V. D.). He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G. C. V. O.). He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K. C. B.). He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C. M. G.). He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C. I. E.). He held the office of Equerry-in-Ordinary to HRH The Prince of Wales between 1901 and 1910. He held the office of Deputy Master of the Household to HM King George V between 1910 and 1912. He held the office of Equerry-in-Ordinary to HM King George V between 1910 and 1912. He held the office of Extra Equerry to HM King George V between 1912 and 1936. He held the office of Master of the Household to HM King George V between 1912 and 1936. He held the office of Extra Equerry to HM King Edward VIII in 1936. He held the office of Master of the Household to HM King Edward VIII in 1936. He held the office of Extra Equerry to HM King George VI between 1937 and 1944.
