Honor Ley Kempthorne was born in Mussoorie, Bengal, India on 25 April 1909 and baptist at the same city on 28 May 1909. Her parents were Gerard Ainslie Kempthorpe and Kathleen Mary Kempthorpe. She was married to Charles Montgomerie Wilson (1908-1991). She resided with her husband at Pencorse Manor in St. Austell, Cornwall, England in 1939.
