Newspaper Report - John Jones MALICIOUS WINDOW SMASHING

John Jones, 62, labourer, pleaded guilty to un-lawfully and maliciously damaging a plate glass window, the property of Messers. Heelas Sons and Co., to the amount of £10 10s, at Wokingham on 24th Jan. Mr Porter was for the prosecution.
Supt. Goddard proved that the prisoner had been convicted of like offences at Alton, Southampton, North London, Winchester (three times) and Reading.
When discharged from Reading Gaol on 20th January, prisoner had 19s 8d on him. Sentence of four months hard labour was imposed.

"WIFE'S" STORY IN TEESSIDE
BIGAMY-CHARGE

Richard Norman Wiltshire, described as a plater, of Stockton, was charged at Gisborough yesterday with bigamously marrying Nellie Alexander Jones at Southall, Middlesex, on 29 October last, his wife, Annie Wiltshire, being then alive.
Mrs. Wiltshire stated she was married to the defendant at St. Paul's Church, Middlesbrough, on 9 December, 1916, and they had one child. They afterwards lived at Middlesbrough and Stockton. On 8 August last year she was ill, and went to her parent's home at Gisborough. A seperation order was granted to her by the magistrates at Gisborough on 28 September, 1910, her husband being orderfed to pay 35s per week towards her maintenance. He was now owing her £98 5s.
Nellie Alexander Jones, of 4, Emsley-rd., Southall, Middlesex, stated that on 29 October, at Southall Parish Church, she was married as (she thought) to Wiltshire. A certificate of the marriage was produced. She met Wiltshire last August at Southall. He was then serving in the R. A. F., and he urged a speedy marriage, saying he would soon be transferred to Egypt. Her mother asked him if he was a married man, and he replied: "I am not but I want to be."
The defendant, who had nothing to say, was committed for trial at York Assizes.

Nellie Alexandra Jones, born 10 February 1897, was married to Richard Norman Wiltshire, born 11 October 1895, in the church of St. John in Southall, Ealing, England on 29 October 1921. Her father was Frederick Thomas Jones. She lived as a married Wiltshire, together with Richard N. Wiltshire and her son Gordon R. J. Wiltshire, born 29 April 1925, at 2, Carlyle Gardens, Southall, Middlesex, England in 1939. A fourth person is mentioned but that record is offcially closed. Her death was registered in Brent, Greater London, in May 1986.
