Earl Arthur Hurford was born on 25 February 1875 and was married to Ethel Susan Hurford, nee Pengelly, born 04 March 1884, on 06 August 1906. His birth was registered in Clifton, Gloucestershire, England and was baptised in the church of St. Philip and St. Jacob, in Bristol, Gloucestershire on 21 March 1875. The couple lived at 83, Beaconfiled Road, Beacon Park, Plymouth, Devon, England in 1939. With them were their children Sylvia Agnes, born on 03 May 1911, and Arthur John Stephen, born on 19 April 1917.
