Third son of Sir Alexander Hood
of Wootton House in this parish.
Baronet by Amelia Anne, his wife,
daughter of Sir Hugh Bateman of
Hartington Hall, Co. Derby, Baronet.
He served in Syria, the Crimea and China
and was sometime A. D. C. to H. M. Queen Victoria,
Director of Naval Ordnance, Commander
of the Channel Squadron and a Lord
Commissioner of the Admirality. ♦ He
based and commanded the Glastonbury
Volunteers in 1850. Born at Bath July 11th
1824 ♦ Died at Wooton House Nov 16th 1901.

spirit - for they rest from their labours.
