A local newspaper reported about the marriage: SIR LEONARD HILL'S DAUGHTER WED Spring Decorations At Chalfont Church Miss Marian Lucy Nannette Hill, daughter of Sir Leonard Hill, F. R. S., and Lady Hill, of Nicholls Wood, Chalfont St. Peter, was married at Chalfont St. Giles Parish Church on Saturday. The bridegroom was Surgeon-Lieutenant William A. R. Thomson, R. N., second son of the late Rev. W. A. Thomson, of Edinburgh. The church was prettily decorated with spring blossoms. The Rev. H. O. Fearnley Whiteingstall (rector) and the Rev. A. Crick, chaplain to H. M. S. "Excellent" offi´ciated. "Lead us, Heavently Father, Lead us" and "O Perfect Love", were the hymns sung during the service; and the organist (Mr. R. A. Ford), played the Wedding March from Lohengrin as the bride entered the church, and Mendelssohn's Wedding March as the bridal procession left. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a medieval dress of blue silk with a veil of blue chiffon, and carried a bouquet of Madonna lilies. Her necklace, the gift of the bridegroom, was made by Major Littledale, bronze medalist of the Royal Amateur Art Society. Miss Anne Littledale, the bridesmaid, wore a dress of blue printed frilled chiffon, and a cream hat, and her bouquet was of cream roses. She also wore a gold brooch with a naval badge, given by the bridegroom. Lieutenant MacPhail, R. N., was best man. Following a reception at Nicholls Wood, Surgeon-Lieutenant and Mrs. Thomson left for their honeymoon in the south of England.
