The birth of John Henry Gerry was registered in St. Columb, Cornwall, England during the third quarter of 1855. His parents were Thomas and Catherine Ann Gerry, nee James. He was married to Martha Jane Harvey in Perranzabuloe, Cornwall, England on 31 October 1875. His second marriage to Ann Elizabeth ??? took place in 1902. He died in Cornwall, England on 15 February 1939.

Mr. John Henry Gerry, aged 83, of Newquay, who passed away at the residence of his sister, Mrs. Bolwell, of 44, Tower-road, Newquay, was buried at Newquay on Saturday. Mr. Gerry was well known in Newquay. He carried on a shipbuilding business at Cattedown, Plymouth, for many years.
