Death notice Published in "The International Chess Magazine" in April 1889. We regret to announce the death at the age of 60 years of Mr. W. J. A. Fuller, one of the principal founders of the first American Chess Congress in which Paul Morphy made his first public appearance. The deceased gentleman had been recently elected a member of the committee of the Sixth American Chess Congress, but death overtook him very suddenly at Paris before his intended return to America and before he could take any active part in the proceedings of that body. A vote of sympathy and condolence with the family of Mr. Fuller was unanimously passed by the Committee of the Congress a few days after his death. |
