Funeral services for George V. Cartwright, retired wholesale cotton goods merchant, who died Thursday at the home of his niece Mrs. Oliver G. Carter, 140 Albemarle Road, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the home, with the Rev. Dr. J. Howard Melish, rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Green-Wood Cemetery. Mr. Cartwright, who was 83 years old, was born in Brooklyn and had lived here all his life. He was formerly white goods buyer for H. B. Claflin & Co., and previously was associated with E. S. Jaffrey for many years. After leaving the Claflin firm he went into business for himself. Mr. Cartwright was for a number of years a member of the Crescent Athletic Club. He also had been a member of the St. Albans Golf Club. He had been retiured for about 15 years. He was the husband of Cora Frances Traved Cartwright. |
