Later he saw much service in Italy, and remained there until hostilittics ceased. There he played a prominent part in many engagements, including the Battle of Ypres, the Somme, Arras, Passchendaele, and Cambrai, and was wounded in actioon. Later he was transferred to Salonika, and saw service in the same capacity until the cessation of hostilities. Barret, Sergt., 1/7th West Yorkshire Regiment He volunteered in August 1914, and was quickly drafted to France. In this seat oof war he took part in many important engagements, including that of Ypres. He met with a serious accident which caused his discharge in April 1918. He volunteered in 1915, and after a period of training served at various stations on important duties with his unit. He was unable to obtain a transfer overseas owing to his beiing medically unit, but rendered valuable services until his discharge in 1919. 16, Zion Street, Bank, Leeds. Annie and E. B. Barrett John and Mary Barrett John and Mary Barrett (sometimes spelt Barratt) came to Sale in Cheshire from Ballyhaunis in Mayo. They had two children. John junior who was born about 1884 in Knutsford and Mary Ann who was born 1888 in Sale. John junior was in the 1901 census and was said to be a blacksmith.
