Sudden Death
On Tuesday evening an inquest was held at the Half Moon-Street, Piccadilly, on the body of Mrs. Ann Baldwin, aged 62, of 37, Half Moon-Street, a widow lady. Elizabeth Ellen Blake, servant to the deceased, said that on Sunday morning last, she was with the deceased in her bed room assisiting in dressing her for church. In five minutes after she heard the back-drawing room bell ring violently. Witness immediately answered it, and found her mistress lying upon the floor as if she had fallen from the sofa. She lifted her on to the sofa, when she groaned twice and expired. Mr. Appleton, a surgeon, was sent for, and on his attendance, pronounce life to be quite extinct. Verdict, "Died by the visitation of God". |
