Death of Frank Altman Frank Altman died at 9:30 a. m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 1937, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Ogg, in Dwight. He lived but four hours, following a haeart attack. Mr. Altman had been residing the last year with his daughter, Mrs. Hazel Organ, in Waynesville, and had left recently for a visit with his daughter in Dwight. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday at the Harkreader funeral chapel in Atlanta, Rev. Donold Lemkau, pastor of the Waynesville M. E. church, officiating. Mrs. Isaac Dagley and Mrs. Charles Marvel sang "Beatiful Isle," "No Night" and "God be with you 'till we meet again," accompanied by Miss Holly Adair. Pall bearers were Frank Hudson, Willis Hoose, James Buck, Junius Sampson, Earl Steiling and HenryTaylor, all of Waynesville. Burial was in Zion cemetery, near Lincoln. He was born March 9, 1856, in Niagara county, N. Y., his parents being Frederick and Christena Altman. When an infant he came with his parents to Illinois, most of his life being spent in Logan county. He was married to Miss Martha Love, January 2, 1879. She preceded him in death. Surviving are eight children: Mrs. Mary Ogg and Mrs. Harry Taylor, of Saunemin; Mrs. Imogene Greenslate, Mrs. Viola Fox and Mrs Ruby Sheets, of Waynesville; and Frank Altman, of Lincoln. There are 49 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Surviving also are a sister and three brothers, Mrs. Mary Edgell, of Buffalo, N. Y., Edward of Utah, George and Joseph, of Idaho. |
