Webber), held an inquest at the Offices of the Kempston Urban District Council on Tuesday morning, concerning the death of Staff-Farrier-Sergeant William Page, of the Army Veterinary Corps, and a native of Sharnbrook, who, whilst cycling near Sharnbrook on Saturday evening, collided with a commercial motor car. |

The "Cheltenham Chronicle and Gloucestershire Graphic", Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, reported on 07 July 1945: HEIR TO PEERAGE LOST AT SEA Missing as the result of a flying accident at sea on April 30, the death is presumed today of Lt. the Hon. Derek John Henry Mond, R. N. V. R., the elder son of Lord and Lady Melchett, of Colworth House, Sharnbrook, ,Bedfordshire. Lt. Mond married on July 18, 1942, Miss Yvonne Victoria Searle, the only child of Capt. T. D. Searle, of 6, Lypiatt-terrace, Cheltenham, and niece of Mr. and Mrs. F. P. Treasure, of Cheltenham. Lt. Mond was born on Oct. 18, 1922, was educated at Eton, where he stroke the eight in 1939 and 1940, and at Christ Church, Oxford, where he was an exhibitioner in science. ORDINARY SEAMAN In 1941-42 he was secretary of the Oxford Union, and in 1942 he graduated with a war degree. He joined the Royal Navy in September of that year as an ordinary seaman, and later was gazetted to a commission in the R. N. V. R., in which he specialised as a navigator. His wife and he met at Oxford University, where she took an Honours degree in Modern Languages after attending Cheltenham Ladies College. After leaving Oxford she went to work in a munitions factory as a statistician. She is well-known as a hockey player for the Ladies' College, and for the East Gloucestershire Club.
