Coded EA-S, airborne from Scampton to attack airfields in NW France. The aircraft was destroyed on return and crashed after the pilot lost control whilst looking for the airfield flare-path. The pilot was unaware of the change in barometric pressure which caused the altimeter to read 300 feet too high. F/O K. W. Michie, Sgt. G. V. Davenport-Jones and Sgt. T. Goldie all died in this incident. |
