Aberdeen, 6 Nov. 1989; educated Logie Coldstone Public School; was manager on his father's farm; joined the 7th Gordon Highlanders in March 1908; was called up on mobilization 4 Aug. 1914, being attached to the Army Cyclist Corps in Feb. 1915, and served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from the following May; was invalided home in Jan. 1917; on recovery, was attached to the 7th Somerset Light Infantry, and returned to France in Dec. of the same year, and was reported wounded and missing after the operations near St. Quentin 21 March 1918, and is now assumed to have been killed in action on or about that date; unm. |

In loving memory of my dear husband James Lawson died at North Lodge, Meldrum House, 2nd Dec. 1954, aged 78 years also our dear son Charles, Pte., K. O. S. B. fell in action at Arras 4th June 1916, aged 19 years interred Faubourg Cemetery, Arras. Also his wife Barbara Forbes Craig died at Tillylea Lumphanan 12th Feb. 1974, aged 94 years. And their loving daughter Violet died at Inverurie Hospital 21st June 1986, aged 64 years.
Also Barbara Forbes Craig died 12th April 2005 aged 91 years. Daughter of the above James and Barbara Lawson.

Buried in Mumbles Cemetery. He married in London, 01 October 1914, Gertrude (29, Miradar Crescent, Swansea), elder daughter of W. Conway-Jones, and had a daughter, Jean, born 25 June, 1916.
