War Cemetery
Kilchoman, Isle of Islay, Argyll and Bute, Scotland

This cemetery was made for the burial of the dead from H.M.S. "Otranto," sunk on the 6th October 1918, after a collision. In the South part were buried the recovered bodies of the American soldiers on board, but all have been removed; in the North part are buried 73 sailors and Marines (including 43 unidentified) and one merchant sailor, of whom 71 belonged to "Otranto." (The three other graves were brought in from the shore of Machir Bay and from Port Charlotte New Cemetery, where some of the American dead from the S.S. "Tuscania" were buried.)
