The Lincoln Chronicle reported:

We deeply regret to record the death of William Goy on the 13th December from consumption. The deceased who was the eldest son of Mr. J. Goy of Ingham, joined the Grenadier Guards at the start of the war and for some time was on active service in France. His health broke down and he was invalided home and later discharged as unfit for service. Amid great sorrow and regret the funeral took place at Ingham on Saturday. The vicar J. Cudmore officiating.
The chief mourners were Mrs. W. Goy (Widow), Mr. and Mrs. J. Goy (father and Mother), Mr. Alfred Goy and Mr. Arthur Goy, Mr. and Mrs. E. Goy with many other mourners and sympathising villagers. There were many beautiful floral tributes from relatives and friends.
