of 28, Forth Street, Grangemouth, Stirlingshire , Scotland.

A newspaper reported on John Inkster's death:

GRANGEMOUTH
TWO GRANGEMOUTH GORDONS KILLED AND TWO WOUNDED.

In the battle near Ypres on Wednesday, Jube 2, the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders were in the very thi?? of the fight, and several of the Grangemouth men, who volunteered about the end of August and joined that regiment, were in action on that occasion. They all belonged to C Company. During the bombardment of 17 hours which they underwent, a shell burst in their midst, and killed two of the Grangemouth lads and wounded two.
. . . Private John Inkster was 19 years of age, and was the second son of Mr. Geo. Inkster, 4 North Basin Street. He was a dock labourer. His younger brother is serving in the 3rd Battalion of the Gordons. They both left for France on 3rd January. . . .
