"Yorkie" Chris Welburn Much loved husband and dad A superb and skilful fisherman Tragically killed on The Quay 15. 2. 2000, aged 41 years. Big, brave, bold, bald and sometimes bloody difficult! but very sadly missed. |
Christopher 'Yorkie' Welburn, who was tragically killed by a beam which fell from the trawler Pietertje, onto the quayside at the city's Sutton Harbour, has been described as a "superb and skillful fisherman". The "big, brave, bold, bald" much-loved husband and dad was 41 when he died on February 15, 2000. Rocdan Sea Ltd pleaded guilty to two charges of failing to ensure the vessel was safe. The Jersey-based company was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £30,000 at Truro Crown Court in 2002.
